Jojoba oil
Technically a liquid wax, not an oil, with a structure close to the scalp's own sebum. Light, stable and well tolerated.
- INCI name
- Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil
- Origin
- Botanical
- Role
- Sebum-like liquid wax
- Best for
- Scalp oiling · Low to medium porosity · Fine or oily-rooted hair
What it does
Jojoba is made of long-chain wax esters rather than triglycerides, which is why it does not go rancid quickly and why it feels so close to natural sebum. It spreads thinly and does not leave the heavy film that butters do.
That makes it the oil we reach for when the scalp is the target: pre-wash scalp massage, or a light leave-in for hair that gets greasy fast but still needs some slip.
How we use it
The default light oil for scalp-focused and low-porosity formulas, where argan or shea would be too much.
