1. Cosmixxology is not medical advice
The Services — including AI hair and scalp analysis, recommendations, and custom-mixed formulas — are intended for cosmetic use. They are not a medical device, are not approved or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a medical device, and are not a substitute for advice from a licensed dermatologist, trichologist, or other healthcare professional. If you have a scalp condition, hair-loss concern, allergic reaction, or any other medical issue, consult a qualified healthcare provider.
2. Patch test before first use
Before applying any custom formula or new product to your scalp or hair, perform a patch test:
- Apply a small amount of the product to the inside of your forearm or behind your ear.
- Leave it on for 24 to 48 hours.
- If you notice any redness, itching, swelling, blistering, or other irritation, do not use the product. Wash the area with mild soap and water.
3. Discontinue if you experience irritation
Stop using the product immediately if you experience itching, burning, redness, swelling, peeling, increased hair shedding, scalp pain, or any other unexpected reaction. Wash the affected area thoroughly. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical attention. Report any serious adverse event to us at support@cosmixxology.com so we can investigate and, where required, file an adverse-event report under the FDA Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (see MoCRA Notice).
4. Pregnancy, nursing, and medical conditions
If you are pregnant, nursing, or have a known medical condition (including, but not limited to, dermatological conditions, autoimmune conditions, scalp inflammation, or recent chemotherapy), consult your healthcare provider before using any new hair-care product. Some essential oils, botanical extracts, and active ingredients are not recommended during pregnancy.
5. Allergens and sensitivities
5.1 You are responsible for accurate disclosure
Your custom formula is generated based on the allergies and sensitivities you disclose during onboarding and at each analysis. It is your responsibility to keep that information up to date and to read the full ingredient list of every formula before use.
5.2 Common allergens we flag
Common allergens we screen for include nuts (and nut-derived oils), gluten/wheat proteins, soy, dairy proteins, fragrance components on the EU 26-allergen list, and natural rubber latex. We will not knowingly include a flagged allergen in your formula, but cross-contact during shared production cannot be entirely eliminated.
5.3 Cross-contact disclosure
Our partner-salon production environment handles many botanical and essential-oil ingredients. If you have a severe allergy, the safest choice is to consult your healthcare provider before using any custom-mixed product.
6. Children
We do not formulate for or recommend Cosmixxology products for use on children under 12 without supervision of a caregiver and a discussion with the child's pediatrician.
7. Storage and use
- Store at room temperature, out of direct sunlight, and away from children and pets.
- Keep the bottle closed when not in use; do not dilute or mix with other products.
- Discard the formula by the use-by date printed on the label, and within 60 days of opening unless the label states otherwise.
- For external use only; avoid contact with eyes; if eye contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
8. Limitation of warranties & liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, formulas are provided "AS IS". We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in this disclaimer limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law. Our overall limitation of liability is set out in our Terms of Service.
